THE SALSA VOLUNTARY FUND:

A Message from the SALSA President

Dear SALSA Members:

Our exceptionally stimulating meetings have attracted more and more members to the Society.  Accordingly, we hope to expand our activities; to do so, we have launched the Voluntary Fund.  Several of you have inquired about the arrangements for making contributions to it and we address those questions here.

The administrative budget  of SALSA is fully dedicated to maintaining its website, listserv, and the publication Tipití.  Meeting costs are provided by registration fees and sponsorship by a hosting institution.

A Voluntary Fund will allow us to explore new possibilities, such as stipends for international travel to the Sesquiannual Meetings; student awards; an indigenous library fund; and other activities that support our
goals of furthering the anthropology of Lowland South America through intellectual and collegial exchange.

The Fund is administered in accordance with the financial regulations and rules of the Society and administered by the President with the Secretary/ Treasurer.  Decisions on the use of the funds are made by these officers with the Board of Directors, in consultation with the membership.

SALSA is a tax-exempt (501.c.3) organization and your contributions are tax-deductible.

Your tax-deductible donation may now be made via the SALSA web site at:

http://www.salsa-tipiti.org/membership.html

We welcome your contributions to these activities as well as suggestions for them.   I join with the other officers and Members of the Board of Directors in thanking you again for your continued support .

We appreciate sincerely any contributions that you are able to make.

Sincerely,
Janet Chernela
President, Society for the Anthropology of Lowland South America
