Illegal gold and mercury: the Yanomami people amidst the impacts of mining 

The following project intends to analyze social relations amongst the Yanomami people in Brazil suffering the impacts of small-scale gold mining in their land and, through an ethnographic fieldwork, the researcher aims to conduct an investigation of the means by which the illegal gold mining affects the Yanomami traditional life. This project relevancy can be assessed based on comprehending relevant topics of the current times such as illegal gold mining, which causes enormous damage to the Amazon rainforest and its inhabitants from the point of view of a dialogue with Yanomami concepts and cosmology.
