The Matses made a video to explain what’s happening. In Amazonia, many indigenous Matses people are stranded in the city during lockdown and they can’t go back to their forest villages. They are living in extreme poverty in the slums, they have no food, they are falling ill, and the children are hungry. The local hospitals are collapsing, having no medicines, ventilators and staff, and they don’t know where to bury the dead.
